Haven 12 ½ Carvel Sailing Dinghy
Do you want the chance to gain some skills and experience working on a unique Tasmanian timber carvel-planked sailing dinghy?
The Wooden Boat Centre will be completing our Haven 12 ½ (Joel White design) which was commenced in 2019 by the team from Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building in the US. She is waiting to have her Herreshoff inspired sheer planks shaped and attached, and will be flipped once fared and caulked to have a full internal fit out in beautiful Tasmanian timber.
We have opportunities for one day, two or three day participation in traditional boat building and timberwork skills including:
Carvel planking
Faring and caulking a hull
Timber and fibreglass deck construction
Fitting out internal components of a dinghy
Rigging and spar construction
Paddle construction
Painting and antifouling a dinghy
Be a part of something special, learning the traditional skills and absorbing the atmosphere at the Wooden Boat Centre on the bank of the Huon River at Franklin.
This work will start in early May 2024 and expressions of interest are now open.
The cost will be $200 per day.
