For Sale: Piner’s Punt
Made by one of The Wooden Boat School Full Year Students, we currently have an original Adrian Dean designed Piner’s Punt for sale. 2023 Full Year student Sean worked for several weeks on this fine bit of Tasmanian maritime history.
The typically Tasmanian Piner’s Punt was designed to be extremely durable and sea worthy, constructed out of half inch planks, seven to aside and very stable in the water, so much so that a person can stand up and comfortably manoeuvre logs without fear of capsizing. It is noted that the Piner’s Punt was first used for pining in the Huon Valley as early as the 1840’s. This design comes from Tasmania’s own Adrian Dean, former Wooden Boat School shipwright, who was one of the first teachers at The Wooden Boat Centre.
